Dr. Pat Salber aka @docweighsin chats with seasoned healthcare executive Steve Lieber who serves as the President and CEO of HIMSS Wordwide:

a global, cause-based, not-for-profit organization focused on better health through information technology (IT). HIMSS leads efforts to optimize health engagements and care outcomes using information technology.

In this clip we learn from the top executive of the world’s premier and largest health information technology association with perhaps one of the more qualified global perspectives on the evolution of the industry ‘from healthcare to a focus on health.’

You can follow the extensive activities of HiMSS on twitter via @HiMSS or their website here.

For some of Stephen’s thoughts check out: ‘Leading Matters – Insights on Broadband and Healthcare‘ and his earlier piece ‘Leading Matters: On the Success of HiMSS13‘.

Sidebar: I first met Stephen ‘up close and personal’ if you will, while standing in line at the reception following the Venture+ Forum. He was rather attentive, poised and concerned that everyone else was getting the attention they desired before serving himself. Little did I know he was the senior executive of HiMSS Worldwide. In this instance I experienced an unassuming, service oriented and determined fellow human being mostly concerned about the wellbeing of others. I came to know of his passion, intellectual clarity and focus only after watching my colleague chat with him about the future of the association and the industry writ large.
